  • ~ Nov 2011 Jayne Hat Knitting Lessons in Edmonton ~

    We are looking for people to knit Jayne Hats for us to sell at conventions and Can’t Stop the Serenity (CSTS) events. Proceeds from the hat sales help fund our annual CSTS event in Edmonton each June. Fundraising efforts by the Alberta Browncoats benefit Equality Now, Kids Need to Read, and the Edmonton Youth Emergency Shelter Society.

    Our dear friends, the Austin Browncoats, have a wonderful idea that we fully intend to swipe capitalize on. For the past few years they have run a Jayne Hat Knit-A-Thon as part of their Dragon*Con convention booth.

    The call went out. The submissions were received. Now it’s time to have your say.
    Voting has opened for the 2012 global design for Can’t Stop the Serenity promotional materials.  The winning design is made into Tshirts, posters, and all manner of publicity.

    Equality Now: $4845.53

     
    This year we saw a 35 % increase in attendance and nearly doubled last year’s total of $3773! In two years we’ve raised $11093.

    CSTS Edmonton is back for 2011! This year, we hope to make it even shinier than last year! Check back for exciting news and information as it unfolds!
    This year, our local charity partner is the Youth Emergency Shelter Society (YESS).     In June of 2011, the Alberta Browncoats traveled to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo and sold out of all our cunning hats before the preview night was over. Members of the AB Browncoats spent the rest of the weekend chained to their booth, madly knitting more hats. This unexpected, and thrilling development, directly contributed to our huge donation total for our 2011 Can’t Stop the Serenity (CSTS) event.

    Can’t Stop the Serenity took off without a hitch (ok, maybe a few small minor ones) in Edmonton on June 27, 2010. Our small crowd of guests were bubbly and excited – nearly as excited as our poor planning committee. I think they might just have been going round the bend.
